Advocating sustainability for a better planet
As a Facility Manager, your tenants are your top priority. Creating a conducive, comfortable environment for them can help increase your building’s occupancy rate and improve your revenue. One of the most important areas in your building to your tenants is the washroom – so it’s important to make this a focus and look for opportunities to deliver a good washroom experience – this includes ensuring you’re thinking sustainably. So, how can you provide your tenants with a great washroom while minimising any negative impact on the environment?
Choose environmentally friendly products
Kimberly-Clark Professional* understands that environmental certification can help you identify and choose more sustainable products. However, with a multitude of eco-labels and environmental certification systems available today, it can be difficult to understand and navigate through all of them. That’s why we don’t just recommend products with recycled content; we advocate those that have a low environmental impact as well. It’s why we focus on the total product lifecycle, from conception to final disposal.
We formed key partnerships with the world’s leading environmental agencies—such as WWF (World Wildlife Fund) because of our strong commitment to the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and we have developed projects such as Love Your Forest as well1 as implemented practices designed to benefit our world. In fact:
• Kimberly-Clark Professional* are already sourcing 100% of wood fibre from suppliers that have received third-party certification of their forestry activities2.
• We have a preference for Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood fibre, recycled fibre and sustainable alternative fibres and have set a goal to increase our use of these particular fibre types to 90% by 20252
• As Kimberly-Clark Professional* facilities move toward our goal of zero manufacturing waste to landfill, our teams are also working to ensure that manufacturing by-products are managed to provide optimal value as secondary materials2.
• Kimberly-Clark Australia became Foundation Partners of the WWF Australia Love Your Forest Program to educate and engage the business community about the importance of responsible forest management through purchasing decisions.
How the right products can lessen your environmental impact
By purchasing products that contain our patented AIRFLEX® technology, you not only reduce your environmental footprint, you may even cut down on your building’s expenses. Paper products with AIRFLEX® technology use up less wood fibre (around 20%), absorb water faster than conventional paper towels, and their superior quality reduces the number of towels used. All these help reduce material waste, landfill, the number of trucks used in delivery and associated carbon emissions. We’re not just committed to creating better washrooms, but a better planet on the whole.
